Résumé
EN
Traditionally, voting studies in France have been dominated by an electoral geography approach launched by André Siegfried (1913) and continued by François Goguel (1951, 1970, 1974) and his disciples. This approach still receives attention, especially in the face of apparent shifts in long-time patterns of geographic stability. (See, for instance, Lancelot 1986 on the 1981 elections and l'alternance.) However, the geographic mode of electoral analysis has come to be rivaled, not to say surpassed, by the tradition represented in this book - survey research. [Introduction's first paragraph]
